Burton and South Derbyshire College Art & Design and Digital Media departments are made up of a diverse team of experienced professionals from a range of creative backgrounds.

 

Our students develop a wide range of work in response to approaches explored in Art and Design whilst being encouraged to challenge traditional notions of creative practice and developing technical and professional skills. Student's have access to industry standard software and equipment and the opportunity to start to develop their own creative identity. 

 

We offer and encourage opportunities for learners to work with professionals across the industry both locally and further afield; learners take part in D&AD's New Blood Festival, Marston’s Film Festival, Derbys FORMAT festival, competitions such as ILFORD, Taylor Wessing and Portrait of Britain. Students collaborate with one another as part of in house projects through BSDC's creative agency, The DISTILLERY and our inhouse PHOTO- CANOPY art programme that focuses on learners working alongside practicing artists and producing work in response to The National Forest. 

 

Ensuring students are prepared to progress to the next level of education whether it be Level 2, Level 3, Higher Education or into employment and the development of transferable and professional skills in line with the BSDC skills promise is paramount to our department, and we wish all our 'Class of 2020' a bright and wonderful future.
